Yoti has been granted six patents. Three covering “digital identity” and one each in the fields of "Web Content Authorisation", “Anti touting” and “Liveness Detection”.
Additionally, we currently have seven patents pending, under the following titles:
- Digital Identity - Authentication of Bearer
- Confidence Values
- Yoti Commercial
- Ticket / Asset Tracking
- Liveness Detection
- Biometric User Authentication
- Digital Identity System
Confidence values US2016241531
This is a system of giving a numerical score to pieces of identity evidence and then giving an overall score to represent a ‘confidence value’.
Our ‘core commercial’ system PCT/EP/2016/053076
This combines four separate patent applications (some already granted) to describe how our ‘core’ system works. It covers registering documents, splitting attributes, storing attributes, sending a policy from someone’s device and then sharing the attributes with the person requesting them.
Computer implemented tracking US2016350861
This is a patented system of tying a digital identity to an asset, and then how that asset is transferred to the digital identity of a third party. The owner could be a real person, a legal entity or an employee at a company.
Six liveness detections US2017046583
Here we have six separate liveness related claims rolled into one patent application. They are:
- Facial Anti Spoofing (FAS) and correlation to sensor data on a device
- Random words at a random location and tracking eye movement
- Heartbeat detection by viewing changes to characteristics of the skin
- Specular reflection in the eye (eg showing image reflections in the eye)
- Person vs background parallax (checking background changes as you expect it to)
- Pupil response to light pulses
Linking assets to a digital identity Application Number: US 15/808,701
This is an extension of the ‘core commercial’ system patent. It describes how assets can be associated with a digital identity (derived from a trusted document) and then transferred to another digital identity. A trail of the transfers is recorded to prove ownership. The asset can be a card, title deed or valuable piece of equipment.
Payment tokenisation Application Number: US 15/808766
A system of tokenising payment details to allow payments from an individual to a merchant without the merchant needing to store or receive any payment details from that individual.
Verifying physical assets Application Number: US 15/835301
This patent application is for the process of using a QR code to prove your digital identity to the sender of a physical asset in order to unlock the use of the physical asset (eg a bank card).
Yoti Connections and anti-ticket touting Application Number: GB 1715111.9
The process of establishing a time-stamped connection between two or more people who have been verified by Yoti, and then sharing that connection with a third party. This is particularly focused on anti-ticket touting. Ticket touts do not know at the point of payment for tickets who will be using the tickets because they will be re-selling. Yoti Connections allows buyers to establish links to friends, family or colleagues prior to purchasing and then allocating those tickets.
Behavioural biometrics Application Number: GB 1721636.7
An anti-spoofing test which analyses the actual movements of a personal device when being moved by an individual, compared with the precise movements the system expected that specific user to make.
Travel use cases Application Number: GB 1804615.1
This patent covers:
- Locking together identity details, identity document details and flight details (boarding passes). This allows travellers to pass through transportation, security and boarding gates seamlessly using only a biometric (which might just be their face)
- A black box solution which lets transport stakeholders (border control, police, airlines and airports themselves) access identity and travel details on request, which will allow individuals to be verified using their face at all points on their journey
Yoti Sign Application Number: GB 1808656.1
Our document signing technology, including attribute sharing for signing which allows the parties to have biometric proof of who signed the document. We have a separate set of claims for hashing together hashes of signed document content and the identity attributes used to biometrically prove who the signers are.
Smart Contracts Application Number: GB 1813458.5
A method of associating one or more verified identity attributes with a smart contract on the blockchain. The smart contract and identity attributes are hashed together so that no substitute smart contract can be put in its place.
Age Estimation Application number: GB 1810639.3
A liveness test combined with age estimation. Age estimation using non-natural light.
Liveness detection using Application number: 1819794.7
The technique of training a machine learning model using 3D and 2D facial images as input to produce a model that can detect depth in a 2D facial image. In other words, an anti-spoofing technique that can beat a photo or screen attack.
Transferring of NFC data from one NFC enabled device to a non-NFC enabled device Application number: 1900668.3
A method of using an Android device to read an RFID chip in an identity document and securely and robustly transferring that data to a non-NFC enabled device.
