Once you have created your Yoti and the details of your ID document have been verified, we can’t see any of your personal details as all your information is encrypted. Which means we cannot give authorities access to your information without being provided with a sharing receipt of a transaction you were involved in. This sharing receipt would allow us to verify the information contained in the sharing receipt but nothing else.
Please see our FAQs on Security and information storage and Section 3 of our privacy policy for more information.
Whenever you share your information with another person or company, you and the third party will receive a receipt, showing the information shared. The receipt will be available in your Yoti account.
Yoti creates and encrypts the receipt which contains the details of the transaction for both parties. We store this receipt securely on our servers and we cannot access or view it unless one of the parties in the transaction provides us with their own receipt containing the encryption key needed to access the information.
Basically, an authority could only see your Yoti information if you or someone you shared your details with gave them their sharing receipt.
