No. With Yoti, you are in control of your identity. You can choose whether or not you want to add an ID document.
If you choose not to add a document, you can still share your photo, mobile number and log in to websites using Yoti. However, you do need to add a document if you want to verify details like your name, date of birth and nationality. This level of verification is why individuals and organisations can trust Yoti, and each other.
Adding a passport, CitizenCard, driving licence or national identity card means more opportunities for you to use Yoti to prove your identity. Supermarkets and nightclubs, for example, often need to see proof of your age if you want to buy age restricted goods like alcohol. Without adding a document to your Yoti, you won’t be able to share your date of birth in situations like these.
The ID document you add must be valid when creating your account. See here for information on what to do if your document expires.
You can also try our Yoti Age Estimation tool. You can find out more about this here.
