It might not be scanning because:
- you haven’t aligned the NFC reader on your phone with your passport; or
- your passport chip might not be working.
To successfully scan your passport chip, while your phone is on the back of your closed passport, try changing the position of your phone slightly and wait a moment as some phones may have difficulty connecting to the chip.
What to do if your chip doesn't scan
If your app is struggling to pick up the NFC chip, you will be able to skip this part by pressing 'Accept' and waiting for approximately 30 seconds. This will prompt a message asking whether you would like to skip it and submit your document by scanning the page instead.
