If you have an ePassport and your phone supports NFC technology, you should be able to scan your passport chip.
It might not be scanning because: you haven’t aligned the NFC reader on your phone with your passport; or your passport chip might not be working.
To successfully scan your passport chip, put your phone on the back of your closed passport. If this still doesn’t work, try moving your phone around and wait a moment. Some phones may have difficulty connecting to the chip.
What to do if your passport doesn't scan
If your app is struggling to pick up the NFC chip, you will be able to skip this part. Just press 'Accept' and wait about 30 seconds. You will receive a message asking whether you would like to skip it. You can then submit your document by scanning the page instead.
