This is a security measure to verify that you’re a real person. It protects against hackers trying to create fake accounts using an automatic ‘bot’, or disguising themselves by wearing a mask or holding a photo in front of their phone camera. When you connect with other EasyID and Yoti users, you can feel safe knowing they’re real people too.
The face scan also creates your biometric key which protects your account. This is the digital map of your face created to make sure only you can access your details. This is not a photo that will be stored on your account – your biometric key cannot be seen by anyone else.
Later, when doing things in the Yoti like deleting your account or changing your PIN, you will need to authenticate yourself by either taking a scan of your face again or taking a selfie. The app will match the scan or selfie of your face to your biometric key to make sure no one is trying to impersonate you or access your account.
