We capture a scan of your face as a security measure, to help combat fake accounts. We want to be sure you are a real live person, not a ‘bot’ (a computer program used by scammers and hackers) or somebody holding up a photograph or a mask in front of their phone camera.
Once we’ve taken a scan of your face, we create a ‘biometric template’ from it and store that on your account. We can then use this to double-check it’s you when you’re using your app to share and receive any details: we’ll ask for a new face scan, and check it matches the original from when you created your account. It’s an extra layer of protection besides your 5-digit PIN.
