It’s important to backup your account in case you lose your device, or need to access your account on a new phone. To back up your account you need to create a recovery file:
- Log/Sign in to your Yoti app and click on More tab > Settings
- Select "Account settings" and click "My recovery file".
You only need to create your recovery file once. If you made any subsequent changes to your account such as adding an ID document, these will automatically be recovered when you restore your account on a new phone.
Note that the backup does not place a copy of your personal data and attributes on your iCloud or Google Drive. It simply stores a ‘recovery key’ that enables us to reconnect you with your own Yoti account if you need to reinstall the Yoti app (for example, if you get a new phone). Your personal data and attributes are held securely in Yoti’s data centres.
Like the rest of your data, the records of your account that allow Yoti to start the recovery process are not accessible to Yoti, the only key to access such records is inside your recovery file.
